The Arts & Crafts style began as an art movement during the last half of the nineteenth century, in response to what was considered excess of embellishment, characterized by the, mostly machine made, Victorian era designs. Arts & Crafts or Mission, as it is also referred, is appreciated for its simplicity and cleanness in design. Except for the occasional stained glass panel or insert design, this period is represented in mostly rectilinear forms. This period of home décor best suits homes of similar architecture or in beach or mountain cottages.
